Colliers Wood United 3-4 Redhill (CCL) 14th Oct

Wood went 0-3 down in 26 minutes to Redhill who had lost their opening 5 league fixtures.

They fought back to 3-3 in the second half but were beaten by an 85th minute goal in an exciting game full of errors.

Watched by a decent attendance, Wood's frustrating form continued as they slipped to 4th from bottom in the league.

Earlsfield United 2-1 Westminster Casuals (SSEC1) 10th Oct

My first Surrey Combination game of the season and there was enough to keep me interested throughout the game.

Earlsfield remain top having shaded a tight game of few chances. They like to play out from the back which may become problematical when the heavier pitches arrive and opponents press high.

The goals came from a penalty (EUFC), an own goal (WCFC) and the one real defensive lapse from Casuals with 5 minutes to go where Ali Holden capitalised.

Earlsfield's future on and off the field progress will be assisted by imminent ground improvements at Grand Drive where a pilgrimage, and a moment's silence, to Tilly's Tree was always on my agenda.

Westside 2-1 Tooting Bec (CCL1) 30th Sep

A competitive game between two well matched sides who will fight for promotion throughout the season.

A damp but mild night which affected the attendance.

Westside 1-0 Godalming Town (CCL1) 16th Sep

A late deflected own goal from a corner sealed the points for Westside at Wibbandune.

It was a tight game of few chances but with enough incident to keep a good sized crowd happy and, once again, the pitch was in superb condition.

Colliers Wood United 2-4 Hanworth Villa (CCL) 9th Sep

Wood were mostly outplayed by a lively Villa side but they stuck at it to make the final scoreline more respectable.

There was another good attendance and the ground improvements were appreciated by the visiting committee.

Wood have been allocated a really tough opening set of league fixtures so it will be interesting to see where they stand at the end of September.

Colliers Wood United 0-1 Hollands & Blair (FA Cup) - 2nd September

Wood exited the FA Cup by virtue of a 13th minute goal for the visitors.

Wood had chances to level the game and certainly finished the stronger side but the well organised visiting defence stood firm

Wood were comforted by a large attendance of 180 with the ground and pitch in superb condition.
